 IT-Impacts Vision

The IS-Impact track aims to develop the most widely employed model for benchmarking information systems in organizations for the joint benefit of both research and practice.
This vision will be achieved through both rigorous academic research activities and active promotion of the model.

Research activities include:

  1. Maximising model validity through extensive data collection and application of the rigorous statistical tests.
  2. Maximising generalisability of the model through enhancing the model to account for unique aspects of various systems, organizational, and national contexts and illustrating its validity in these varying circumstances.
  3. Maximising research utility of the model through the development of nomological network relating the model as (i) dependent variable to understand drivers of IS-Impact and (ii) independent variable to understand the impact of IS on such organizational variables as organizational performance.
  4. Maximising practical utility of the model through the development of tools and approaches for extracting maximum management information from the data gathered using the model with minimum effort.
  5. Maximising the research and informational value of the vast amount of data gathered with the model by building up an IS-Impact database which would allow us to development industry- and application-specific IS-Impact benchmarks, IS-Impact trends overtime, and other reports that will be of great interest not only to specific organizations wishing to benchmark their IS-Impact but also to the various industries in general.

Promotion activities will aim at:

  1. Presenting the model through research seminars and industry presentations.
  2. Active engagement with industry through consultation and research collaborations.
  3. Publication of top-tier conference and journal papers and practitioner-oriented book.
  4. The development of a world-class web site that will serve as a portal for researchers and practitioners to first learn
more about the IS-Impact research at QUT and register interest and to later gain access to our model, data, and tools.
